Just a decade after it was established, exactly 105 years ago in Hamburg, Montblanc had already become one of the most prestigious names, thanks to the cult status of its legendary Meisterstück Writing Instrument.

Montblanc has always been in tune with time, continuing to conquer new ground, creating ever more sophisticated objects of desire, synonymous with excellence. Its name is a signature, its logo a hallmark , the brand a world famous icon.

Now Montblanc has reinvented its unique brand nature and personality again, in a new fragrance for men.

If writing is the visible expression of the soul, fragrance is surely its unspoken, subliminal language.

Fragrances tell stories, shape emotions, evoke poetry. They caress the skin, writing in unseen ink what the fountain pen marks on paper in black on white.

LEGEND can thus truly claim its Montblanc lineage, which originates in the history and culture of the famous brand name.

What matters, it suggests, is what is left to the imagination, rather than what is seen. It is generosity and intelligence that count. Through its style, its fragrance and the personality of the man who embodies it, LEGEND expresses these same values: timeless yet looking to the future, a mysterious yet voluptuous je ne sais quoi, which we constantly aspire to, an elitism justified only by being shared.

Naturally, for the man who wears it, LEGEND expresses a true personality and character.

A DESIRABLE MAN

So what is he like, this man? The LEGEND man does not allow himself to be described so easily. He prefers subtlety to overt explanation…

Confident and assured, retained rather than talkative, he lives his feelings, his courage and his convictions. Yet without saying a word, we sense his purpose and commitment, his taste for the authentic, his love for passion and pleasure.

This naturally, effortlessly virile man, as seen by Montblanc, is embodied Zinédine Zidane.

This is one of those men who create their own legend.

THE REMINISCENCE TO AUTHENTICITY AND EXPERTISE

When an object bears the Montblanc name, style is central, essential.

Conceived by Montblanc’s in-house design team, the bottle captures the essence of masculinity, timeless design, and bears the classic Montblanc hallmarks.

The curved, solid shape has a voluptuous smoothness, echoing the signature feel and sensual touch of the iconic black Meisterstück writing instrument in the hand. The intense black glass and sleek metal top add to the effect. Embossed in relief on the upper part of the bottle and on its lid, the emblematic star ensures there is no mistaking about its provenance. On the stopper, the three “rings” embodying the spirit of the Meisterstuck 149 frame the famous guilloche brand signature.

There is no label.

The case, also in black and silver, bears the stamp of metal thread, following the gleaming curves of the bottle. And at its centre, the star appears once again, this time in its original form: white like the snowy peak of the eternal mountain, and evoking the 6 glaciers surrounding the mountain top.

THE FRAGRANCE

LEGEND simultaneously expresses strength and softness; clarity and mystery. This very masculine yet subtle perfume, created by Olivier Pescheux, belongs to the fougere fragrance family. It firmly makes its presence felt without ever becoming ostentatious.

The first notes are lightly aromatic: Lavender, essential in the fougere construction, is clearly recognisable. Bergamot from Calabria and Litsea Cubeba, or “exotic verbena”, further enhance the extreme freshness of this lively opening.

The middle notes vibrate intensely: Evernyl, a molecule very reminiscent of oakmoss, deploys its warm sensuality and depth. “I wanted it to be the true heart of the formula,” explains Olivier, “so I was very generous with it.”

PomaroseTM, an ingredient created using the very latest technology, has facets that liken it to both a rose and an apple. Combined with Geranium, PomaroseTM definitely gives the fragrance a modern edge.

A blend of sensuality and harmony complete the fragrance. No fougere could ever be without Coumarin, the inimitable “half-hay, half-biscuit” note that is the main constituent of the Tonka Bean. Combined with a touch of Sandalwood, the final impression is one of a very irresistible yet personal adventure.
