The Most Iconic BTS Hairstyles (and Colors) Ranked

From the wolf cut to a two-toned ombre and everything in between

by: Bella Javier

You don’t have to even be super into K-Pop to know that K-Pop idols seem to have a knack for experimenting with hairstyles and hair colors that are far from ordinary. We’ve seen idols sport mohawks, idols who shaved half of their heads, idols with more than four hair colors, and everything in between.

In fact, global K-Pop powerhouse BTS is no stranger to this tendency to experiment with hairstyles and colors. Each of the seven members of the group has had his fair share of iconic hairstyles that have captured our hearts. However, we’ve identified the seven BTS hairstyles that have stolen the spotlight below.

7. Jin’s Wolf Cut

When CNN calls you the icon of a certain hairstyle, well, it can’t get any more iconic than that. That happens to be the case for Jin, who has been called the icon of the “wolf cut” hairstyle by the news channel. With vintage-inspired hairdos coming back with a vengeance, Jin stands front and center as one of the frontrunners of this trend.

Renowned by ARMYs all over the globe as the “worldwide handsome” man of the group for his timeless charm and elegance, Jin’s simple yet eye-catching upgrade to his usual haircut is undoubtedly one of his best looks to date.

ICYMI, a wolf cut is likened to how the fur of a wolf looks like. The tousled look is characterized by heavy, loosely permed layers that may even be likened to a mullet.

6. RM’s Caramel Blond Hair

While RM is no stranger to blonde hair, this caramel look he sported for “Black Swan” gave this rap monster unmatched sophistication that’s a far cry from his early mohawk-donning, shutter shades-wearing phase as a rookie.

Balancing the casual look of a fashionable overgrown swept-back undercut with sleek styling, this cut makes swooning over BTS’ leader practically automatic.

5. J-Hope’s Two-Toned Ombre

If you have a hard time picking between one hair color over the other, why not just go for both? It’s something that J-Hope has done repeatedly over the years and has worked wonders for him and his adoring fans.

Some people argue that J-Hope is the least likely to experiment with his hair, as he typically dons browns or blacks, but when he does, he seems to have a preference for having two-toned ombre hair. Some of the color combinations he’s tried are platinum grey, pink as well as blond, and purple!

4. Jimin’s Red Undercut

If J-Hope isn’t really the type to experiment with his hair, the opposite can be said about Jimin. Jimin is known to have rocked a wide range of hair colors, including dark blond, carrot orange, and even purple-pink.

One hair color that has stuck in the minds of fans is dark red, taking the Twitterverse by storm. Many have named the shade as fire red — aptly named, as it looks fire hot on him. Paired with a slicked back yet slightly disheveled undercut on this versatile idol, this look is a definite keeper on our list of best looks.

3. V’s Mullet

While mullets are not particularly new to the group (i.e Jin) this transformation by V definitely left an impact in every ARMY’s heart — ours included. Featured during the “Dynamite” era of BTS, this retro-inspired look just oozes with charm — a perfect match for the charming Taehyung himself.

Though this era was defined by a colorful old-school aesthetic, this mullet on V gives him a rather modern princely look that reminds us of how mature he, along with the rest of the boy group, has gotten from the start of their career.

2. Suga’s Perm

Don’t let that baby face fool you. Suga is a savage on the mic with his “tongue technology.” However, when he isn’t going hard as AGUST D, it’s easy to fall in love with this sweet-as-sugar member.

When it comes to this yet gummy-smiled rapper, changing his hair comes as quickly as changing clothes. With so many dye jobs in his repertoire of hairdos, one comes to wonder about the status of his scalp. From blonde to peach to red to blue to silver, is there a color Suga can’t pull off?

Coming a long, long way from his debut looks, like braided copper hair or his signature beanies and caps, we figured we’d go back to black. While his bubblegum blue hair is arguably a fan favorite, it’s his glorious return to black hair that gets us Shookie — get it? This permed look on Suga is a breath of fresh hair from his previous hairdos, giving us something out of the norm and, most importantly, memorable.

1. Jungkook’s Man Bun

Not all guys can pull off having long hair very well. Not every long-haired guy can rock the man bun very well either. Both do not apply to one Jeon Jungkook. With his ability to rock whatever haircut his stylists throw on him, from his swoon-worthy long curls to his half-shaved undercut to the signature K-Pop center part, this maknae is constantly giving his hyungs a run for their money.

Jungkook famously sported a man bun during BTS’ appearance in The Tonight Show. Needless to say, ARMYs around the world went wild over the hairstyle.
