With the right shade of blush, you can completely change up your entire look.
Sometimes I go through phases wherein I’m all about a certain aspect of make-up, say, foundation, or mascara. Suddenly, I’m completely obsessed with foundation and want to try different brands and formulas. The one makeup product, though, that I’ve always been obsessed with since time immemorial is blush.
Blush is crucial. Especially on days wherein you’re looking extra tired, a few swipes of blush can make you look that much more fresh and awake.

First things first — what color blush to pick? The purpose of putting on blush is to add color and life to your face, so the shade you select should compliment your skin tone, whether you have fair, medium or deep skin.
Fair Skin
As a general rule: Fair Skinned ladies have it easiest. Anything from pinks, peaches, plums down to nudes can work on such a light canvas. One must only take care not to apply too much product to avoid looking like a clown or like you got hit in the face. Start with a little product on your applicator, then slowly build it up until you reach your desired intensity.
I recommend:

Medium Skin
I have medium skin and I find that blushes with peachy undertones work best for me. Warm, peach shades pick up my skin’s warm undertone very nicely, lending me a more natural flush versus say, a pink blush.
I recommend:

Deep Skin
Plum shades look best on deeper skin tones. In the pan, plum-toned blushes may look dark, scary and bruise-like, but don’t be intimidated! You’ll be pleasantly surprised at how fresh and natural this will look on your cheeks. As always, start out with a small amount and gradually add more product.

This aims to serve simply as a guide for makeup newbies who want to get introduced to the world of blush. My philosophy however is that there are no rules to make-up — just have fun with it, practice, and try out different products if you can to see what works best for you!
