If you’re an avid K-drama fan, you’d know that straight brows have always been the preferred brow shape for most of our favorite female leads. However, as of late, we’ve been seeing more and more Hallyu stars trade their signature brows for arches slightly more undone — we’re totally here for it! So, if you’ve been wondering how actresses like Han So HeeJeon Yeo Been, and Jun Ji Hyun achieve their natural, perfectly fluffed-up brows on and off-screen, look no further. Below, we give you everything you need to know about the latest Korean eyebrow trend and how to make it your own.

Grooming Your Brows

Everyone’s eyebrows are going to look different, but that is the beauty of this K-trend. Whether your brows are naturally straight or slightly arched, embrace them! What’s most important is choosing a shape that best suits your features — which is often your natural brow shape with a few added tweaks.

To start, take a clean spoolie and brush your brow hairs in the direction that they naturally grow, and carefully trim off the excess.

If you want to add more definition to your brows, you can also remove some stray hairs around the brow bone with a pair of tweezers. Be sure not to over-pluck though! You want your brows to look as full as possible, so only take away what is necessary.

After grooming, take your spoolie once again and comb your brows in the direction you want them to stay in. For the most natural effect, comb the front of your brows upward, the middle portion diagonally, and shift to horizontal strokes as you reach the tail of your brows.

Now, this next bit is important especially if you’ve got stubborn or sparse brow hairs: to retain the shape you’ve initially mapped out, prime your eyebrows with a clear brow mascara. Not only does this create a beautiful feathered effect, but it also instantly adds volume to the brows.

The key to an effortless and undone brow is to use as little product as possible to mimic brow hairs, as opposed to shading in the entire brow. There are several products you can use for this step, such as an ultra-fine or angled brow pencil, a brow pen, or a brow powder and slanted brush.

Following the same direction you’ve primed your brows in, simply draw thin strokes between the brow hairs to add fullness. You’ll want to use a light hand so the strokes look as natural as possible.

To complete the look, brush through your brows with a strong-hold brow gel. This ensures that your brows will maintain their fluffy appearance throughout the day whilst locking in all the products you’ve used.

You can opt for a clear brow gel for this step, but there are also some amazing tinted options out there that can add an extra layer of dimension and definition to your brows.
