Makeup Tips For When You’re Sick

BY NICOLE SEE

Whether you’re down with the flu, are nursing a hangover or just feeling a tad bit under the weather, being sick is awful. And as much as you’d like to crawl back into your warm and comfy bed, you still have people to face, places to go and things to do. Doing your makeup might be a complete chore, especially on days you’re not feeling too great.

To help, here’s a simple makeup routine that might just help you look better than you feel.

Makeup Tips For When You’re Sick

Base

When sick our skin tends to get dull and dry. For light coverage and some hydration, apply a BB cream or a tinted moisturizer to your face. To prevent further drying, stick to emollient based products and ditch the setting powder as this might just add to your skin’s dryness.

Brighten

Along with a flu comes dull and tired looking skin. Achieve that well-rested look and add life to tired looking skin by using a brightening concealer. Apply on your under eyes and around your nose. For best results, use products that come in liquid formula as they blend better.

To further perk up your look, simply curl your lashes and put on a few coats of mascara. Curling should pretty up those peepers.

Tip: Watery eyes are a common symptom for those down with the flu, so best to stick to waterproof mascara.

Brows

Sparse eyebrows make you look pale and sick. To bring frame and add more dimension to your face, do draw on eyebrows. As a tip, straight and thick brows give off a more youthful appearance.

Blush

Add some color to your otherwise dull and sallow skin by using blush. A cream formula makes for a smooth application over dehydrated skin and lends a bright, healthy and dewy glow to your complexion.

Balm

Let’s be real — when you’re feeling under the weather, you really have no energy to fix up. But if there’s one product you shouldn’t skip on during your sick days, it should be lip balm. Why? Because dry and chapped lips are painful and awful. Do apply and reapply lip balm as needed to keep your precious lips from splitting. To add more color to your skin, go for a tinted lip balm that provides your pretty puckers with both moisture and color.

Beyond makeup, the most important thing to remember is to drink lots of fluids, and rest up. If your schedule permits, stay home and rest.
