They’re not just post-breakup ‘dos anymore.
BY KELLY ANNMARIE

Short haircuts for women may be daunting for some, but we’ve seen a great increase in popularity for these shorter ‘dos in recent times. Celebrities and influencers alike have been hopping on the bandwagon over the past few years — who can blame them? Short hair is fresh, fun, and just feels so liberating. Plus, you shave time off of getting ready since you don’t have to sit in front of the mirror for hours styling it every day. Phew.
With that being said, let’s take a look at some short haircuts for women we have also seen on popular K-Pop idols that you can try for a brand new you.
Classic Middle-Part Bob

You’re probably aware of the online debate on middle parts versus side parts triggered by the rather unprecedented debacle between Millennials and Gen Z. However when it comes to the classic bob cut, we think the middle part is definitely the way to go.
This bob is a beautiful, simple, and low-maintenance short hairstyle that suits many face shapes, as it helps to create a sharper, more elongated appearance, framing the face in a way that accentuates your more flattering features.
Even TWICE’s Chaeyoung was seen rocking this style previously!
While bobs are more low-maintenance compared to other cuts, blow-drying after showering is a good practice to avoid pesky flyaways.

Short Waves

For those with thicker, more textured hair that’s a bit more difficult to tame, you might want to go for a short wavy style instead. This will work better for women who don’t have pin-straight strands.
Hwasa of girl group Mamamoo looked divine with her tousled, wavy haircut. Consider changing up your color too, like Hwasa, if you really want a noticeable difference in your look.
Because wavy and curly hair tends to be more porous, the key to protecting your locks (and color) is to avoid washing your hair too often, as well as using products that don’t overly strip the hair. Try to look out for ingredients such as sulfates and parabens — a big no-no for wavy hair! Another key tip: accentuate your natural waves by squishing your hair upward from the roots while you condition your hair and drying it with a microfiber towel in the same upward manner to bring out its shape.
Keep your hair grease-free by incorporating dry shampoo into your beauty routine.

Long Bob with Bangs

If you’re not ready to fully commit to a short haircut, why not try a chic long bob like BLACKPINK’s Lisa? This cut is typically just above or just below the shoulders depending on your preference. It’s perfect for those who want to get a glimpse of the short-hair-life before going all the way.
Getting full bangs or a side fringe can also help add some dimension to your hair while framing your face.
Bangs usually need a lot of care and attention, but they’re totally worth it if done correctly. It’s recommended to straighten your bangs, with or without heat, to prevent the strands from sticking out and appearing frizzy.

Pixie Cut

A pixie cut is one of the boldest short haircuts for women, especially for those who’ve never gone all-in for the chop. Before you decide to go for the cut, consider which type of pixie cut will suit your face shape and hair texture best.
Pixie cuts may look fun and feel freeing, but they actually require more maintenance than one might think. This includes regular salon visits for trims, treatments, and styling with products such as pomades or volumizing sprays to help retain their shape.
Still, it’s not entirely impossible. Amber Liu has been rocking the pixie since she first debuted to the K-Pop scene back in 2009. If you truly fall in love with this cut, you just have to put a little extra work in.
