There’s no harm in sneaking in a bit of your auspicious color into your OOTD for a little extra luck!

The tradition to wear “lucky colors” stemmed from an ancient feng shui theory that wearing your lucky colors can help improve your fortune and bring you luck and happiness.

It might seem a tad superstitious for the scientifically inclined, but there’s no harm in sporting your lucky color for the lunar New Year. As you shop for your Chinese New Year outfits, sneak in a piece of two in your auspicious color (according to your zodiac animal) to get into the festive mood.

You probably don’t want to wear just one color for the year, so here are a few ways you can easily incorporate it into your everyday OOTDs:

Lips and Nails

Let’s start small. Say your lucky color is red. It can be hard to take on a hue so bold and eye-catching without looking like a walking red packet. Instead, you can add a dose of red on your lips or your digits for an extra oomph that isn’t too OTT.

Accessories

If you generally shy away from loud colors, work a small accessory into your outfit such as a purse or clutch, then pair it with neutrals to ground your look.

Outerwear

The good thing about outerwear is that you can always remove it anytime. Throw on a sweater or bomber jacket in your lucky color, and it won’t even seem like you’re trying too hard.

Center of Attention

If taking on color is no sweat for you, then more good fortune to you! Go all out with a maxi dress or flared jumpsuit and strut with flair.
