Put on your disco pants, it’s trending again!
Written by: Danica Hooper
The 70’s is my all-time favourite decade for street fashion and I am so grateful that it made and is making a comeback on the runways. There were so many different trends to try and new muses to appreciate; you had your free spirited hippies hungover from Woodstock and the ones hungover from Saturday Night Fever, the ones trying to recover from the wave of 60’s mod and the ones starting to punk out for the 80’s. There was a style for everyone and I am here to guide you through them and help you add a little 70’s twist in your modern wardrobe.

Happy Hippie
I’d like to think that I have the spirit of a hippie — wild, free, nature oriented, and in the summer, that spirit is exhibited through my clothing. Think Coachella but instead of just a weekend festival, imagine it as everyday wear. It’s honestly the best.

A La Discoteca
When you think of a discotheque, you think flared pants and platform shoes and that’s exactly what you’re gonna get. Nightlife has definitely changed throughout the decades but one thing is for sure, we all still somehow love to dance and listen to good music with friends in a crowded venue with other people bumping into us. See you in Valkyrie!

Recovering from Mod
The rise of 60’s most quirky trend lingered awhile in the 70’s and even influenced disco fashion. Color blocking was a huge deal and so were thigh high boots. A shift dress was the silhouette to wear and if you didn’t have one, you might as well have been dead.

Prepping for Punk
If Vivienne Westwood started the punk/rock movement back in the 50’s, maybe it would’ve stayed in fashion up until the 60’s, but that was not the case. Vivienne Westwood is the epitome of punk fashion and her start in the 70’s greatly influenced the biggest trend of the 80’s. Punk’s not dead and it’s not planning on dying anytime soon.
