ADULTING 101: How To Dress Smart Casual VS Corporate Wear

A.K.A. Dress codes 101

It would’ve made all our lives easier if there were a quick and dirty cheat-sheet on what you could refer to or wear before putting your whole outfit together for the next interview or meeting! Well, if you think corporate means culottes with chucks, you’re doing it all wrong.

Deciphering what to wear to which event — just so that you don’t end up looking clueless and underdressed. With a little help, you’re set to go.

First things first, not all dress codes are created the same. If your office and the occasion call for a typical no-brainer casual, breathe that sigh of relief and look over to your favorite plain white tee and jeans combo. However, if the business casual is the mandate, classy pants and a crisp, collared blouse will do the trick. Don’t forget to pair it off with a snazzy pair of dressy shoes — poof, you’re set!

SMART CASUAL

Or dressy casual. Basically, a combination of casual, business casual and business dress codes, where you can combine them into a “smart” ensemble.

1. Shoes

2. Pants

3. Blazer

4. Tops

CORPORATE WEAR

Informal attire could possible be a misnomer as it does call for a bit of formality, let it not confused you with casual attire. Business attire is a tad bit more sophisticated than Smart Casual, signaling the need for suits, ties, dresses etc.

1. Dress

2. Heels

3. Handbag

We surely hope this article helped you all differentiate the two! Tip? Always remember that YOU ARE YOUR OWN BRAND. Whatever you decide you wear to work or events outside, tells a story. There’s a subtle difference between smart casual and corporate wear.
