Woman Crush Wednesday: Jasmine Curtis-Smith

Anne Curtis who?

BY RALPH DESIDERIO

She’s more than just another actress’ younger sister. In her years in the limelight, Jasmine Curtis-Smith has made quite a name for herself with her acting projects. Never feeling as if she was hidden in the shadow of Anne Curtis-Smith-Heussaff, the Australian Filipina started off small on TV5 series, but eventually made her way into indie films great enough for us to fawn over.

From her on-screen moments to her real life self, here’s everything we’ve learnt to love about the award winning actress.

She loves her family

From being the best bridesmaid at her sister Anne’s wedding to supporting her younger brother at his graduation, this sister has all her bases covered.

She’s more than just a pretty face

Constantly fighting off accusations of anorexia, the actress finds time to speak up and use her voice for people who aren’t able to do so. She stands up for body positivity and says mental health is very important, and understands those suffering with anxiety or depression as she’s gone through it herself.

She’s our #RelationshipGoals

Island girl meets island boy. Jasmine’s relationship with Jeff Ortega has everyone absolutely kilig. Constantly supporting each other’s achievements, having beach trips, and taking each other on stylish nights out, this relationship is something everyone wants.

She’s represented the LGBT

Acting as a lesbian in the critically acclaimed film Baka Bukas, she represents some hardships that some people must go through in real life. “We have a voice. I am with you guys whether I am LGBT or not. I stand with you guys and I will be with you all the way.”

She’s Pathy

It’s Pathy with an H. Her role as the millennial vegan in I’m Drunk I Love You was comical, and we loved to hate her.

She’s a trophy collector

She’s no stranger to films that’ll lead her to the deep end and really push her acting skills out. Her most recent awards include winning best actress for Baka Bukas in 2016 at the Cinema One Originals Film Festival , and then best supporting actress for Siargao just last year at the MMFF. That’s some crazy talent.

More than a pretty face, Jasmine Curtis Smith manages to stand her ground within this competitive industry, even managing to beat the competition and stay ahead of the game.
