Reel-ationship or relationship? Let’s get to know more about this generation’s favorite love teams!

From their different teleseryes up to their appearances on the big screen, no matter what the role is — cameo or major — this generation really makes it a point to support their favorite celebrities and their love teams. Placards, shirts, banners? Name it, they have it!

It is no question that fans have so much power — being the people behind the ratings and all — but what happens if two of the most sought-after young stars are paired together and star on their own teleserye?

A love team is formed! Let’s see what’s the real deal with three of the most famous love teams of this generation!

LizQuen: Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil

Funny how both Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil although big stars now, started off as hating the spotlight.

Growing up, Liza was encouraged by her Tita Joni to join beauty pageants and was later on spotted by a talent scout. Since she couldn’t speak in Tagalog, she was told to learn the language to be able to land good projects. Enrique, on the other hand, started to join workshops in the summer of 2008. After this, he was offered commercials and later on was given projects bit by bit.

Humble Beginnings

It was in 2014 when the two first worked together in the hit telserye Forevermore which was set in fictional Sitio La Presa, Benguet. It tells of a strawberry farmer named Agnes. She crosses path with Xander after the latter crashes into her strawberry truck. To pay for the damages, his parents forced him to work in the strawberry farm and this is where their love story begins. This project also gave birth to the duo’s love team — LizQuen.

Back track a year before, Enrique was able to work with Liza in the movie She’s the One and asked Malou Santos, Star Creatives Chief Operating Officer, if he could work with Liza in his next projects.

Just Friends…

For a long time, the two have been rumored to have been dating and it was only after Liza’s 18th birthday that Enrique became very vocal on his courting plans. When asked in an interview whether or not the two of them are together, Enrique replied, “It’s not about the label, it’s about how you treat each other.”

Liza is not closing any doors and as of the moment, is still sticking to her agreement with her lolo not to engage in a relationship until she’s in her 20’s.

… But with Furry “Babies”

Liza may have dogs at home, but unfortunately, couldn’t come near them because of her allergies. Imagine her happiness when Quen gave her a hypoallergenic dog for Valentine’s Day last year. Currently, LizQuen has two babies — a Pekingese named Bubu and Gucci, a Chihuahua.

Aside from the dog, Liza and Quen like to give each other gifts. In fact, for Liza’s 19th birthday, she was given a Chanel bag with the specifications that she has been looking for.

Family’s Blessing

Both halves of LizQuen are known to be family-oriented which is why it is no surprise that if ever they enter into a relationship, the approval of the family is a must. Fortunately for them, both families approve of each other. In fact, Liza’s lolo calls Quen, “Manu” short for manugang.

Although the two may have a 5-year difference, one can’t deny that they have undeniable chemistry. Something that according to Enrique, is only present if “Meron talaga.” By meron he means, feelings.

KathNiel: Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla

You might remember Kathryn Bernardo as the kikay girl, Maya, in the fantaserye Super Inggo or one of the kulit kids from Goin’ Bulilit. The bibo girl has now blossomed into a fine young lady and is one of the booming stars this generation has to offer.

Padilla — a name that resonates in almost all Filipino households. Although blessed with this household name, Daniel didn’t enter the industry the easy way. He had to undergo through a lot of go-sees before landing a role.

Love-Hate Relationship

Kathryn and Daniel, or collectively known together as KathNiel first met on the set of Growing Up, a teen drama anthology that used to air on Sundays in ABS-CBN after ASAP.

Kathryn played the role of Ella Dimalanta who because of her mom’s experiences made her distrust men. No wonder she hated her show-off classmate and kabarkada Patrick Rivero, which was portrayed by Daniel. As the show unfolds, the two develop a liking for each other.

No matter how sweet KathNiel is, their characters always a l w a y s start off hating each other. From their roles as Mikay and Gino in Princess and I to their most recent movie, Can’t Help Falling in Love, as Gab and Dos it’s as if the showbiz gods and goddesses has conspired to make their characters hate each other in the beginning and eventually fall in love with each other.

Teen Royalty

Dubbed as the Teen King and Queen, KathNiel has never failed to make us kilig over all the projects that they have worked together. The oldest love team among our list (in terms of years of working as a pair), a lot has changed with the roles given to them.

Along with their age comes maturity and it is very evident on how they deal with issues and how they portray their characters.

Duo with a Big Heart

With the big careers that they ahve right now, Kath and DJ has always made it a point to give back to the community and be of service to others. They once took on the ALS ice bucket challenge to help raise awareness and funds for people with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). They have also engaged themselves in charity works and spreading love and hope to the community.

Six Years

Six years. Six very long years. That is the total number of years of how long KathNiel has been together. We have seen how they have matured from their teeny bopper days with very raw talent to their now more mature roles proving how brilliant actors they truly are.

Although they have been together for that long as a love team, the kilig factor is still there. Whenever they look into each other’s eyes while saying their lines — heck even if they aren’t even saying anything, they can still have the power to make a whole movie theater squeal!
